According to news confirmed by the Abu Dhabi Group itself, Asia’s largest telecom operator – SingTel – has decided to sell its 30% stake in Warid Telecom after a “Strategic Review” of the company. Abu Dhabi Group is the buyer that has re-acquired 100% holding of Warid Telecom after purchase of the 30% stake for USD 150 million.
In 2007, SingTel had bought a stake in Warid for USD 758 million describing its decision to invest in Warid as a “natural fit” following its investments in India and Bangladesh as well.
As evident above, SingTel has sold off its stake at a significant loss.
