The magnitude of the disaster is said to be bigger than the Tsunami, the Haiti earthquake and the Pakistan earthquake of 2005 – all combined! For relief and reconstruction and to cope with the disaster, estimates suggest Billions of Dollars will be required.
To this call, mobile operators in Pakistan have responded positively pledging a certain amount which are listed below:
- Telenor Pakistan – PKR 100 Million
- Ufone GSM and PTCL – PKR 53.5 Million
- Mobilink GSM – PKR 85 Million

In addition, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has started a “1234″ SMS service for donations to the Flood Relief activities.
The short code “1234” has been activated from all cellular mobile operators platforms. SMS can be sent to“1234” by writing “Fund” which will be charged @Rs.10/- excluding taxes for contributing to“Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund 2010” for flood affected people.
Let us all step forward to do whatever is possible in our capacities to support our brothers and sisters in this hour of need.
